Zohar Dance Studio offers ongoing classes of different levels in jazz, ballet, and modern. Equipped with theatre lighting, the studio is available to community members and artists as an intimate performance space as well as for classes, workshops and rehearsals. Zohar's professional teaching staff have been serving the Palo Alto area since 1979. Dancers have gone on from Zohar to attend Juilliard School and New York University, and others to perform on Broadway, in Las Vegas, and Europe.
Since 1986, Zohar has brought the art of dance to at-risk youths. IndepenDANCE transforms youths through dance classes that engage and excite. Young dancers meet weekly for classes, rehearsals and workshops throughout the school year. Starting with 30 students in East Palo Alto, the program today reaches over 700 youths annually. Based on the success that IndepenDANCE had on a mixed class of regular and developmentally delayed students, the San Mateo County Office of Education requested that Zohar develop and expand the IndepenDANCE program to include students in its Early Childhood Education program. In 2004, Ehud brought his unique gift to engage children and youth with autism to PACE (Pacific Autism Center for Education) in Sunnyvale.
Juvie Jazz was implemented in 1995 to make dance and its positive benefits available to incarcerated youths. Working with the highest security units in Juvenile Hall, Ehud gives these young men and women the opportunity to express themselves in a positive and creative activity that encourages these youths to work together and grow as individuals. The program has received local, national and international attention for its innovation and the positive results of breaking down barriers.
