Fit & Feisty Dance
A fun way for a parent to get fit with his/her feisty little one!
For Toddlers through age 5 & Parent
Fridays 9:15am-10:00am
Fit & Feisty is specially designed to be taken by both the Adult with child ~ Combining the simple joy of dancing, creative movement and being silly to create a fun and stimulating environment to learn dance and get fit in a nurturing and non-competitive environment. Fit & Feisty dancers will have a positive and enjoyable experience learning dance together while building self-awareness, coordination, confidence and social skills.

Important notes:
- Toddler must be a strong walker.
- “Parent” can be mom, dad, grandparent, etc.
- Clothing – Comfortable so that you can move and sweat!
- Footwear – Sneakers or bare-feet. Absolutely no open-toed shoes, crocs, sandals or flip-flops.
- No make-up classes are available
Storytelling through Dance
Do you have a show-tune-loving, storytelling, hip-shaking, body-twirling, top-of-the-lungs-singing child? Harness that energy with a dance class inspired by musical theater and storytelling. In this class we will explore a variety of music and dance styles, but will focus especially on musicals old and new. The class will culminate in a short performance that will combine both learned choreography and improvisation.

Dance Party! (A class that feels like a dance party!)
Is every evening a dance party at your house? Do you have a hard time keeping up with your super groovy kid? This class is all about the rhythm and the beat. We will move to music that is impossible to ignore, and makes your head shake and your hips move. Modern, and appropriate, music will be featured and your child will learn some jazz and hip-hop basics. The class will culminate in a short performance that will incorporate the dance skills learned in the session, and more importantly will highlight the joy and abandon that comes when you dance to great music.

Esther Selk
Esther Selk loves to teach. An actress, dancer and mathematician! - Esther seeks opportunities where she can encourage students of all ages to take risks in a safe environment, allowing for fabulous silliness and creativity. She has been teaching middle school math and science for 17 years, and is currently both the Math Department Chair and Drama teacher at The Girls' Middle School in Palo Alto. Esther holds several California Teaching Credentials and has a Minor in Theater. She has choreographed several community theater productions, ranging from Seussical to Finian's Rainbow to The Sound of Music. Esther is the choreographer for Sunnyvale's Musical Theater Camp, a camp where kids aged 7 - 14 come together to create an original piece with singing, acting, and dance. Esther’s inspiration for teaching a new dance class at Zohar is her experience with her own daughter. The best dance moments are when the two are truly in tandem: playing, dancing, and sweating.
All classes held at Zohar School of Dance (see address below). Zohar has a spacious studio equipped with two walls of mirrors and a sprung-wood floor. There are dressing rooms to change in and a restroom in the facility. Zohar is conveniently located at the Cubberley Community Center next to Charleston Shopping Center. You can do your grocery shopping or get something to eat before or after your class!
